While Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and other players like DJ Reader, Amon-Ra St. and Jahmyr Gibbs dug into the victorious turkey drumsticks on national TV following the 23-20 victory over the Bear Thursday at Ford Field, you couldn't help but notice powerful running back David Montomery was nibbling on a carrot.
One video posted on YouTube suggested he simply didn't trust the quality of the turkey.
But there may be a better explanation for the star running back of Herculean strength and stamina who came from the Chicago Bears to Detroit in 2023.
His Wikipedia page list him as a vegan, someone who eats no aminal products, not even eggs.
In 2020, the Chicago Bears website reported that Montgomery had recently become a vegan.
Since the season began, Montgomery has decided to step up his diet game: he has removed all meat and animal products from his diet. He's been happy with his results. Correlation is not causation, but he has rushed for more yards than anybody in the league, save Derrick Henry, since making the switch.
"That's probably the biggest thing," said Montgomery, "feeling more energized. Just eating healthy and taking care of my body more."
