Ex-President Donald Trump's recent comments saying Russia should do whatever the hell it wants to NATO countries that don't pay their fair share isn't sitting well with Polish Americans in Michigan, who find his remarks appalling and unAmerican, the Detroit News reports.

Michigan has the third largest Polish American populatiion in the U.S. with more than 760,000 people.

The News interviewed several Polish Americans who expressed concerns that Trump would pull back from its NATO commitments or pull out from the organization all together.

Andy Ladak, a Vietnam veteran from Warren who has family and friends in Poland, tells Melissa Nann Burke of the Detroit News:

“This isn’t Trump negotiating for a golf course or threatening to evict tenants from his apartment building. This isn't a business transaction.

“For us as Americans to approach our relationship and support for such a critical alliance as NATO as a simple business transaction, or worse ― encouraging Russia to do ‘whatever the hell they want ’ ― is just totally unacceptable and beyond the pale for a former or future American president to say.”
