A Tsunami of Optimism in Detroit: Lions Sellout Season Tickets For First Time in Ford Field History

Let's face it. The Detroit Tigers suck. And the Pistons and Red Wings won't be bringing home a champisionship trophy any time soon. 

But the Lions....

Well, they dazzled fans in the second half of last season. They looked like contenders.

So, Detroit fans are investing a lot of hope in that team -- so much so, that the Lions have sold out their season tickets for the first time since Ford Field opened in 2002, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Lions president Rod Wood made the announcement on WXYT-FM (97.1) Thursday morning.

“This is an exciting moment for our franchise. To reach this milestone as we celebrate our 90th season of Detroit Lions football makes the moment even more special,” Wood said in a released statement. “The Lions have always enjoyed a loyal and multi-generational fan base that has been the bedrock of our fan base. We can’t wait for the home field advantage that this will create inside Ford Field this season.”

The Lions were 9-8 last season, and just missed the playoffs. Fans are expecting the team to make the playoffs this year.
